Dana + Brendan's Wedding at The World Trade Center in Baltimore

Finally I'm starting to get caught up on all my post-production! Thank you so much to Dana and Brendan for being so patient with me. As you can tell from the images, the energy at their wedding was simply fantastic.

The wedding ceremony was held right down in the Inner Harbor of Baltimore at the Pier 5 Hotel.

The reception was held on the top floor of The Baltimore World Trade Center.

 

A rainbow doesn't happen often in Baltimore, but when it does on your wedding day, I would say that's serendipity.

 

The ladies over at the salon, Studio 921 in Baltimore, were really sweet (read: that means they put up with me...ha, ha!) and made Dana and all her girls look fantabulous.

 

Hey Brendan, your new wife has amazing jaw structure (that's one of those awkward photographer statements). But it's true!

 

 

 

 

This little garden area next to the water is really beautiful at the Pier 5 Hotel. Definitely a unique spot for a ceremony.

 

 

 

 

 

 

With floor to ceiling windows, the view from the top of the Baltimore World Trade Center is killer.

This was one of those special weddings were everyone was tearing up the dance floor. How cool is that?

 

Um, excuse me, it's getting a little hot in here? Brendan's layin' down the heat at the end of the night.

Thank you so much to Dana and Brendan for letting me be a part of their beautiful day. D + B are two of the most emotive people I've ever photographed and I loved every minute of it.

Nadia + Aasil's Wedding Day Preview

One of the most unique and beautiful weddings I've photographed. Nadia and Aasil kick-ass...from BWI airport to Celebrations at the Bay in Pasadena, MD and to Georgetown in Washington, DC. Too cool. I made some fantastic new friends and met so many interesting people that day. Can you dig it?

Dana + Brendan's Wedding Preview

I've been sooooo looking forward to posting images from Dana & Brendan's wedding. These were two of the happiest and coolest people I've ever met, never mind photographed. All of the family and friends were incredible and the energy was just out of this world. These images obviously only represent a tiny taste. Enjoy, guys! I can't wait to share the rest.

For all you non-Baltimore folks, this is the groom, Brendan, doing the "Ray-Ray". It's the dance NFL all pro linebacker, Ray Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens does at the start of every game when he's introduced. I think it's safe to say Brendan f-ing nailed it!

The dance photos are insane—the edit's going to be huge!

Teaching a Wedding Class at CDIA

Ok, so this is a mega post of images. I've been spending the last 2 weeks teaching a wedding class over at the Boston U/CDIA in Washington DC. I've got a cool intimate little class this time around, so instead of 12 or so students I've got 3, Dara, Jessica, and Jim. Joining us has been Jorge who was one of my students back in February—Jorge's my official TA, so I send him on errands...you know, fetching me coffee, holding umbrellas, filling bowls of M&M's (only the green ones 'cuz I'm a diva). 

We shot a mock wedding and engagement last week and have been talking business all this week. Our models on the wedding day were super-cool. Jessie and Ed brought some great energy and were easy to make laugh. I swear Ed was channeling Vinnie Barbarino and Jessie was fantastic just rolling with everything and still looking amazing. We ran the two of them around Georgetown and made Jessie wear a dress that was in need of some serious dry cleaning and/or replacing. 

I hope everyone learned a lot and I'm definitely looking forward to the next class.

 

Some Funky Editorial Portraits

Been busy this week teaching a wedding photography class over at Boston University's CDIA in Washington, DC. Super-fun stuff and I've got a great small class this time. I'll definitely share some photos of my class in action. I've also got tons of new wedding stuff I can't wait to share. I've been photographing fantastic couples every weekend—so much to share, so little time!

OK, on the non-wedding front, I shot some portraits for The Chronicle of Higher Education last weekend and I thought I'd share them since they're a little unusual. Turns out they're going to use one these funky composite photographs for the article. It'll be cool to see how they run it in the magazine.

The article is about this super-smart young woman, Bonnie McCubbin who did 2 years worth of archaeological research to figure out who set fire to Cokesbury College, the first Methodist college, back in 1795. I loved her passion and zeal for sharing her research with everyone.

Here's another variation of the same idea. I wanted to create an image that would make people stop to read the article and give viewers a sense of the ghostly/creepiness of the whole situation at this cemetery, which is where the college once stood. BTW, Bonnie gave me all the time I wanted and was a killer sport in letting me explore my ideas. I love where I've got her looking at her own arm just peaking into the frame. Delightfully weird and creepy!
